GET QUOTEGetting licensed can seem daunting at first, but Hylio is here to streamline it for you. We have successfully helped hundreds of customers with this process so far. We provide you with a clear roadmap, documentation, and unlimited consulting to help you get everything you need to legally fly and apply.
This is essentially a UAS pilot license that is required in the USA to fly any UAS for commercial purposes; this covers the commercial operation of spray drones, but also camera drones, survey drones, and more.
You obtain this license by completing a 60 question, multiple-choice exam at an FAA-approved testing site. You can either self study or take an affordable, online course to prepare you for the test.
Part 137 is the FAA regulation governing the operation of drones used to dispense or spray substances (including disinfectants). It’s the same certification required for manned agricultural aircraft, such as crop-dusting planes and helicopters.
Hylio provides complimentary Part 137 onboarding with the purchase of any of our UAS. We supply comprehensive guides and example documents for every step of the process. With our support, you’ll submit your application to the FAA for review and move smoothly toward final approval.
The EPA defines federal guidelines for the use and dispersal of economic poisons (AKA pesticides) and the agricultural departments of each state handle the administration and enforcement of these pesticide applicator licenses.
The pesticide applicator licenses come in many different flavors; at a high level, they are split between commercial and non commercial licenses. If you are only servicing your own crops/property, then you only need the noncommercial pesticide applicator license. If you service crops/property that you do not own, then you must obtain the commercial pesticide applicator license.
With Hylio’s assistance, customers typically achieve full licensing for their AgDrones in three months or less, thanks to our unique FAA pre-registration process.
As the aircraft manufacturer, Hylio pre-registers each drone with the FAA at our factory before shipment. Upon purchase, customers simply file a quick registration transfer from Hylio to themselves. Ownership transfers immediately upon submission, no need to wait for FAA confirmation.
We include this pre-filled registration form with every drone, so you can send it off right away. After completing the transfer, you can proceed with your FAA 44807 exemption and then your Part 137 certification.
Because Hylio handles the initial registration in-house, our customers save an average of 3–6 months compared to providers who skip this step, cutting total licensing time from 8+ months to as little as 3. Our expert staff guides you through every stage. Contact us at +1-832-219-6778 or sales@hyl.io to get started.
Every Hylio customer receives instant access to our comprehensive training suite, featuring step-by-step tutorial videos, searchable digital manuals, detailed checklists, and an interactive drone simulator.
Most operators feel comfortable and confident flying their Hylio UAS in just 5-6 hours, completing the full training in a single workday. You’ll gain confidence in every aspect of drone operation, including:
Hardware and software control
FAA regulations and compliance
Precision spraying and best practices
Routine maintenance and battery care
Safety and emergency procedures
With Hylio’s expert training resources, you’ll be ready to fly safely and effectively from day one.
